Hotel vs. Vacation Rental: Which is better in Nosara, Costa Rica?

The privacy of your own place

When I travel with my family to places like Nosara in Costa Rica, where we frequently stay at least seven nights, this question always pops into my head: should we stay in a hotel or a rental home?

In addition to the obvious pros and cons when choosing between staying in a hotel or a vacation rental, there are other factors to consider directly related to the destination. A friendly town, like Nosara, with a developed tourist component and essential services, makes it very inviting to consider a vacation rental.

Professional companies mainly operate vacation rentals in Nosara. These companies have good cleaning standards, are well-equipped, have a responsive maintenance department, often offer concierge service, and are very aware of your needs. All this may seem like a given, but it is vastly different from a single-operated vacation rental, which generally relies on one person to do everything.

There are many options for vacation homes in Nosara, and some questions, such as “what does the fee include?” are worth asking because little details might impact your packing and your experience. It’s good to know if you will have the following:

      • Beach towels. They are heavy to pack, but you will want to have them.

      • Amenities. Such as soap, shampoo, and toilet paper.

      • Bicycles. They are the best way to get around Guiones Beach and its surroundings.

      • Security. A guard to look after your home while you are out for dinner can be costly; however, it could be worse if you don’t have one.

      • Reserve water tank. When the water supply is low in Guiones and Pelada, you will want peace of mind.

      • Concierge service. Your vacation will be more enjoyable if one is available throughout the day (and evening!).

      • Housekeeping service. Imagine having someone come daily to refresh your vacation home and do your laundry.

Other important points to consider are how close the house is to the beach (in distance, not “walking time” which is very relative) and whether there is off-street parking. Lastly, find out in which section of Guiones the house is. Might sound good to be where “the action is”, but remember the wonders of a good night sleep.

In summary, rapid response for issues that may arise, daily housekeeping service, security and hotel-style pampering while keeping your privacy, independence, convenience, and comfort can be part of your vacation rental when you rent from companies like Nosara Vacation Rental, which is operated by Olas Verdes Hotel.
