Once a solely cattle and farm economy, Nosara is now a multi-cultural small town with a variety of services provided by small businesses, mostly family owned. Tourism has grown too, and the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge, where Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada and Playa Ostional are, is the main magnet for visitors and foreigners that has made their home around it.
Nosara is in the Northern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, in the Guanacaste province, and the closest international airport is in Liberia (LIR). Playa Guiones is renowned as a surf and yoga town; where residents embrace a simple and healthy lifestyle, with a very friendly approach. There are great surf schools as well as yoga studios and retreats. There are also many small restaurants. Getting around town is commonly done by walking, bicycling or renting and ATV or golf cart.
Activities and tours include hiking, SUP, surfing, massages, zip lining, coffee tours, birdwatching, wall climbing, sea turtle nesting and hatching observation, town “fiestas”, river kayaking, snorkeling, visits to the wildlife rescue centers, deep sea fishing, and some amazing activities for kids.
